Sterlington's "church on wheels" opens doors to the public

Posted: Updated:

STERLINGTON, La. (KNOE 8 News) - What some believe is the first "church on wheels" in Northeast Louisiana has officially opened today. First West: Fairbanks set up shop in Sterlington High School. Hundreds turned out for the first day of service this morning. Church goers were greeted to a nursery, a children's worship area, and the main space for the adults. Childcare Supervisor Natalie Adams says while church is in session, even the little babies will be learning about a higher power.

"We're going to have a lesson for all the kids, a memory verse, a craft, and we're going to send home a bunch of happy parents and happy kids," she said.

All the equipment will be loaded on and off two travel trailers every Sunday. Church leaders say they plan to attract people in North Ouachita who are without a church home.
