TALLULAH, La., (KNOE 8 News) - Tallulah will be receiving a grant to help fight alcohol being served to minors.

The Louisiana Office of Alcohol and Tobacco (ATC) awarded the city $3,000 compensate Tallulah police officers conducting operations to identify permit holders who are illegally selling alcohol to minors, announced ATC Commissioner, Troy Hebert. A main goal of the ATC is to monitor and eradicate purchasing and consumption of alcohol by underage patrons.

ATC is awarded a recurring grant from the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) to conduct both uniform and undercover patrols at High School sporting events and during various festivals throughout the year to monitor and issue citations to violators.

Along with providing funds to pay Tallulah Police Officers for over-time compliance checks during high risk hours, the grant will also help to fund special enforcement operations during festival events.
