Ty Russell

Ty Russell is the Weekend Anchor/ Weekday Nightbeat Reporter for KNOE 8 News. He joined the station in July 2011.

Ty first joined the station as a One-Man-Band reporter. After about 9 months, he was quickly promoted to an anchor position.

He packed his car up and headed to the Arklamiss area from WIOD Radio in Miami, Florida which is also his hometown.

Ty graduated from Florida State University with an Bachelor's in English. While in college, he anchored the student run newscast "Seminole Showcase" and hosted special segments on the college television station, 4FSU.

He also reported for Florida Public Radio. His voice was heard throughout the Sunshine State regarding politics.

Not only that, he worked as a News Editor for WTXL in Tallahassee, Florida.

Ty loves being involved in the community. He managed to rack up more than 550 volunteer hours in college alone. He has helped build houses, serve meals to the homeless, and assists the elderly with their special needs.

Ty got his jump into the television world simply by participating in the morning announcements in high school.

When Ty is not covering the breaking and developing stories in the Arklamiss, you can find him exploring Ouachita Parish and making his way to somehow meet some of the "Swamp People."
