Former Techsters Ford and Weatherspoon Finalist for WNBA All-Time Greats

RUSTON, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Former Techster greats Teresa Weatherspoon, also current head coach for LA Tech women's basketball and Cheryl Ford made the 30 finalists list for the Top 15 players of all time in the WNBA. They both join a list of nominees such as Lisa Leslie, Diana Taurasi, Sue Bird and Tina Thompson that was selected by a panel of media members and basketball experts.

Weatherspoon was a two-time All-American and a Wade Tophy winner. She also lead the Lady Techsters to the 1998 national title and Team USA to a Olympic Gold medal. After a dominating career at Tech, she was a five-time WNBA All-Star and a two-time league Defensive MVP while playing for the New York Liberty and Los Angeles Sparks.

Ford was a two-time WAC player of the Year and lead the Lady Techsters to four straight NCAA Tournament appearences. Following her career after Tech, she played seven years with the Detriot Shock earning WNBA Rookie of the Year in her first season.

Fans can vote on wnba.com through July 14. The top 15 will be announce at the All-Star Game July 23 in San Antonio.
