METAIRIE, La. (AP) - New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram isn't letting a humbling start to his pro career undermine his opinion of what he can still accomplish in the NFL. With 1,605 yards from scrimmage and 11 touchdowns in his first three pro seasons, Alabama's first Heisman Trophy winner is now a widely perceived under-achiever in the NFL.

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Southern University's head track and field coach, Brian Johnson, is leaving. He's accepted a position as the assistant track coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of Georgia. WAFB-TV reports Southern officials said Tuesday that Johnson will be the sprints and jumps coach and oversee recruiting for Georgia.

NEW YORK (AP) - Chris Carter snapped a ninth-inning tie with a colossal three-run homer, extending his second-half power surge and sending the Houston Astros to a 7-4 victory over the New York Yankees on Tuesday night. Josh Fields won on his 29th birthday. Chad Qualls worked a perfect ninth for his 14th save.

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Joe Gibbs Racing has hired Carl Edwards to drive a new fourth Sprint Cup car in 2015. The team also added Daniel Suarez, who will drive a full-time Nationwide Series entry for Gibbs and run a partial schedule in the Truck Series.
