Clay Ostarly joined the KNOE weather team in December 2010. You will see him on the Weekend Report, Saturday and Sunday, with your Weather Authority forecast.
Clay moved to Monroe from New Orleans to study Atmospheric Science at the University of Louisiana at Monroe in 2008. As a Louisiana native, Clay is no stranger to the wide variety of weather the area experiences; Afternoon thunderstorms, tornadoes, and hurricanes have all been a great influence in his passion for weather. "I'm a firm believer in the saying, ‘ If you don't like the weather in LA, then wait five minutes.'"
When asked where his original interest in weather came from, he responded, " It was May 8, 1995. I was only 5 years old and I was terrified of the weather. In Slidell, Louisiana, we received 19.09" of rain in 48 hours. It caused massive flooding and crippled South Louisiana for days. After that event, I started watching the weather constantly because I never wanted to get caught in a flood like that again. The fear soon turned into an interest, which then became a passion."
Outside of KNOE, Clay lives the normal college student life. He spends a majority of his time studying, eating, and catching up on precious sleep. His other love is for music. Clay has been playing drums for 15 years, recently picked up guitar, and can also be heard playing piano. During the winter, Clay joins his family on an annual ski trip to Park City, UT, and in the summer, he always tries to spend a minimum of 10 days at the beach. " I love a good time on the town and meeting new people, if you see me, please feel free to come chat with me, especially about the weather."
