MONROE, La. (KNOE) - The Madagascar cockroach or its Latin name the Gromphadorhina portentosa aka the hissing cockroach is one of the largest species of cockroaches. They are native to the island of Madagascar, which is off the African mainland. These creepy crawlers are wingless, but are excellent climbers and can scale smooth surfaces.
