Woman arrested for fake prescription

WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE) Police officers have arrested Ashley Christina Watkins, 33, after the West Monroe Police Department was called by a pharmacist at Walgreens located near the intersection of Cypress Street and Thomas Road.

According to the report, the pharmacy received a call from a woman claiming to be a nurse from a local doctor's office. The woman called in a prescription for 120 Xanax pills for Ashley Watkins. The pharmacist thought the prescription was fraudulent and called the doctor's office to verify. The pharmacist says the doctor advised not to fill the prescription.

Police officers say when they arrested Watkins she told them she didn't understand because her doctor's office contacted her saying her Xanax prescription was filled and ready for pickup at Walgreens. The arrest report indicates Watkins told officers she did not call anyone trying to falsely obtain any type of drugs, but she later admitted to the crime while being booked into jail.

Watkins is charged with Prohibited acts; all schedules/ False Pretenses/Swindling/Confidence Game.
