WINNSBORO, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Teachers at Winnsboro Elementary School have been encouraging
their students to pursue excellence in their education and their hard work is paying off.

Meanwhile, local high schools are not up to par, according to Franklin Parish NAACP President Roosevelt Grant. He says because of that, some students are having to take remedial courses in college because they're not prepared.
"It's not a slap against the staff or the principal or anyone at Franklin High School, it's saying let's come together as a community and see what we can do better," says Grant.
Grant and other community leaders will be serving teachers lunch on Thursday, December 21, to reward them for all their hard work.
