Voter registration for upcoming election now available

OUACHITA PARISH, La (KNOE) - People are out making sure everyone gets signed up to vote before it's too late.

If you're new to the area, you'll have to register your current address 30 days before the next election.

You can do that by visiting http://www.sos.la.gov/ElectionsAndVoting/Pages/default.aspx or heading to the nearest registrar of voter's office.

Officials say you don't have to renew your form if you haven't moved.
They just want to make sure everyone is registered.

"With school starting back, they forget that there is an upcoming election." said Christa Medaries, with the Oauchita Parish Registrars office. "And, we usually have one in the fall. It's just to get them aware that they can register so they don't have to wait to the last minute. Or, realize on election day that they aren't even registered."

The last day to register for the Oct.13th election is Sept. 3th.

Where you can get registered:

-High schools

-Library

-Senior Centers

-Super Walmart

-Public Assistance Offices
