Texans to soon be able carry long blade in public

AUSTIN, Tx. (KNOE 8 News) - Starting September 1st, people in Texas will be able to carry blades longer than 5.5 inches in public.

Now, blades like bowie knives, swords, spears, daggers and machetes, will be back on the streets.

The plan was approved by state lawmakers and eventually signed into law by Gov. Greg Abbott.
