His family last saw him at eight o'clock Wednesday night and shortly after, they received a call.
"The call only said we needed to get to Madison Apartments," says Bowman.
Police responded to a shooting at Madison Apartments around 9 o' clock. When they arrived, Bowman was found dead and nineteen-year-old Trashaun Smith was found in critical condition.
The Sheriff's Office handed the investigation to Louisiana State Police,
who determined that eighteen-year-old Demariuos Hicks was the shooter.
Bowman had been working at a local Popeyes for the last two months
and friends say though he had a troubled past, he was trying to
get his life together.
"I don't know his whole life story or anything like that, but he was a troubled kid who was trying to turn his life around," says Alaysia Hicks.
Others admit, Roderick had his run ins with the law, but they say he didn't deserve to lose his life.
"No innocent person should just die in vain, none whatsoever, I don't
care what the circumstances were, no one should die in vain," says Trae Webster.
As the Bowman family mourns the loss of Roderick, they have a message for young teens.
"They just need to leave the violence alone," says Lora Bowman.
Funeral services for Roderick are being held next Tuesday at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church Number One in Tallulah. It starts at 11 a.m.
