Sen. John Kennedy talks Equifax, Hollywood, & Trump

MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Senator John Kennedy has addressed a controversial comment he made involving actress Lindsay Lohan. The U.S. senator sat down for an exclusive interview with KNOE to talk tax reform, but the conversation took a turn toward Hollywood.

"I was sent to Washington, to speak my mind," Kennedy says. And Senator Kennedy is no stranger to saying things that are off the wall.

"I would rather drink weed killer than be anywhere else tonight," he once said. And in an ad, he said: "You hit us, we'll hit you back twice as hard and your buddies and your goat."

But last week during a finance committee meeting, the committee was taking up offering a new contract to Equifax just weeks after a data breach that impacted millions of customers. Kennedy wasn't too keen on that idea.

"You realize to many Americans right now, it looks like we're giving Lindsay Lohan the keys to the mini bar." Lohan, who has struggled with alcohol addiction, fired back on Twitter implying she may sue the senator.

"You know the Ritz Carlton democrats in Hollywood they can dish it out but they can't take it," Kennedy said.

This led to a lengthy discussion about Harvey Weinstein, the disgraced film mogul accused by several women of sexual assault.

"The hypocrisy of Hollywood is breathtaking. I mean now, all of a sudden, we see this guy Harvey Weinstein, who is a total pig, and all the Hollywood types are shocked, just shocked. They talked about it at the Oscars in 2013. They all knew what this guy did and none of them said a word."

Chris: "Senator, the leader of the GOP was accused by a dozen women, on the record"

"And I'm not defending that either, I'm not defending that either, I think it's all terrible," Kennedy responded.

Then Kennedy decided to clarify his earlier Lohan comments. "I guess what I probably should have said, instead of what I said about Ms. Lohan, I probably should have said it was like giving Mr. Weinstein the keys to the ladies room."
