Couple attacked at their home in Rayville.
Deputies with the Richland Parish Sheriff's Office have another crime on their hands. Sheriff Gary Gilley says they are searching for two suspects in connection to a brutal home invasion. He says it happened off of Highway 425.
First responders say the responded to a 911 call shortly after 6 o'clock a.m., Thursday in the 2900 block of Highway 425. When the medical team arrived, they found one of the two victims in critical condition.
Neighbor James Thornhill said "Normally we don't have too much to worry about just the traffic. That's it."
He lives right across the street from where the attacked happened. He said while headed to work he saw, "a whole bunch of cops across the road." He added, "I didn't know what was really going on."
Gilley said the victims told them two black men came into their home and attacked them. He said his team is working hard to investigate the incident. Gilley said they are also working to find out a motive.
Thornhill said this worries him. "I'm just really concerned right here. It's right across the road from where I live at," he said. "Do we need to be worried about somebody trying to come in on us?"
Thornhill said he is going to put cameras around his home. He also says he is going to keep a watchful eye for neighbors.
"If I hear anything, I'm going to look out," Thornhill said. "If I hear the dogs barking, I'm going to get up and see what's going on."
He said he and his family are praying the victim pulls through. Thornhill and other neighbors say they are hoping the attack was an isolated situation.
Sheriff Gilley said though they have not arrested anyone, there is one person of interest.
