UPDATE: Teen charged says Christmas Day shooting was accidental

Police continue to investigate the death of a man who was shot on Christmas Day in Monroe. The victim in this shooting was identified as 31-year-old D'Angelo Robinson.

17-year-old Isaiah Smart is facing a second-degree murder charge in connection with Robinson's death. Monroe Police Detective Reggie Brown says Smart claims the shooting was an accident. Detectives are still investigating.

Authorities say a teenager has confessed to pulling the trigger in a deadly Christmas Day shooting in Monroe.

Monroe Police say Isaiah Jaylone Smart is charged with second-degree murder in the death of a male victim.

Police say the shooting happened at an apartment at 1401 McKeen Place. According to an arrest affidavit, police responded to the shooting just before 11:30 pm on Christmas Day. It says a subsequent investigation led them to Smart, who was found on Wood Street in Monroe. According to the report, Smart confessed to shooting the victim.

KNOE is withholding the name of the victim and apartment number pending notification of next of kin.
