UPDATE: 2nd suspect arrested in string of Monroe burglaries

MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Update: Thu 2:20 PM, Dec 07, 2017

Monroe police say they have arrested a second suspect in connection with the recent string of burglaries on the north side of Monroe.

Reginald Derrick Capers was arrested Thursday afternoon. Capers is the same man that previous arrest records show was with Alston during the break-in at Samz Discount Tobacco.

Monroe police say they have arrested a man connected to a string of burglaries in Monroe.

They've arrested Daniel Renard Alston on a charge of simple burglary.

According to an arrest affidavit, the burglary Alston has been charged with happened on Deborah Drive in Monroe on November 28th at 3:30 am.

According to another arrest affidavit. Alston was also arrested on Dec. 1st at Samz Discount Tobacco on G.B. Cooley Road in the West Monroe area. The document says Alston and another man broke into the store in the middle of the night to steal cigarettes and money. The affidavit says the two men were caught in the act and arrested.

The investigation is ongoing and at least one more arrest is expected, with more charges possible.-
