Monroe man arrested after allegedly climbing a pole in underwear and chewing grass

MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Ballard Rose, 23, of Monroe is charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance after police reportedly found him in his underwear climbing an electrical pole.

According to the report, Ballard told officers he smelled gas coming from his Riverside Drive apartment. Officers said he told them he also chewing grass to ground himself in an attempt to prevent himself from being electrocuted.

Monroe police officers said they went inside Ballard's apartment to check for a gas leak and noticed the 23-year-old continued acting strange and appeared to be under the influence of a drug. Officers reportedly checked his wallet for identification after Ballard said he couldn't locate his ID and discovered a small plastic bag containing a white crystal substance that appeared to be methamphetamine.

Ballard was placed under arrest and taken to Ouachita Correctional Center.
