Monroe man allegedly stabs another at Salvation Army

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A Monroe man is behind bars after police say he stabbed another man at the Salvation Army in Monroe.

Monroe Police say they got a call at 7:15 am in reference to a stabbing at 105 Hart Street (Salvation Army).

They say the victim was stabbed several times in the chest, back and forehead, which penetrated his skull.

Witnesses say the stabbing stemmed from a confrontation that the victim had with the suspect, Kenneth Lavall, inside the Salvation Army bathroom. They say the two were fighting over the victim's girlfriend, when the confrontation turned physical.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital where he was quickly treated for severe injuries.

Police arrested and interviewed Lavall, where he allegedly admitted to producing the knife, and stabbing the victim.

Lavall was booked into the Ouachita Parish Correctional Center for attempted second degree murder. His bond has been set at $250,000.00
