UPDATE: OPSO says robbery suspect has been arrested

OUACHITA PARISH, La. (KNOE) - Update: Glenn Springfield with the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office says John Ira Easton was arrested overnight Tuesday in Shreveport, LA.

Detective Reggie Brown with the Monroe Police Department says Easton is currently being held in the Caddo Parish Detention Center and will be extradited back to Monroe. Brown says Easton is being held on a $50,000 bond for First Degree Robbery.

Update: Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office and the Monroe police department are looking for the same man for two different robberies.
They say John Ira Easton is responsible for the Woodforest National Bank and Origin Bank robberies.

He faces First Degree Robbery charges.

Monroe Police were able to identify him by tips from the public.

"The detective had already received multiple calls from citizens identifying him,but we could not have gotten the information out as fast without your [KNOE] help," Detective Reggie Brown, a spokesman with the Monroe Police Department said.

Update: The Monroe Police Department has obtained an arrest warrant for , 40, for First Degree Robbery of Woodforest National Bank. The bond is set at $50,000.00

Update: Investigators with the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office say deputies also responded to a bank robbery Tuesday afternoon. They say a man robbed an Origin Bank on Cypress Street just a few miles outside the city limits of West Monroe. This second robbery report comes less than two hours after a robbery at a bank in Monroe.

The Origin Bank, which is located at 5084 Cypress Street, was hit around 3:45 pm, according to Glenn Springfield, OPSO's Public Information Officer. In Monroe, the Woodforest Bank in the Walmart Supercenter was hit around 2 pm.

Monroe PD provided the image above, which they say shows the suspect in the Woodforest Bank robbery. Springfield says their suspect is also a white male. In the Origin Bank incident, investigators say the suspect indicated he was armed.

It's unclear at this time whether there is any connection between the incidents.

Monroe Police are looking for a suspect in the robbery of a Monroe bank. Take a look at the surveillance image above. Police say that's a picture of the man they seek.

Investigators with the Monroe Police Department say the robbery happened at the Woodforest Bank around 2 pm Tuesday. The bank is located at 2701 Louisville Avenue inside the Walmart Supercenter in Monroe.

Police say they don't believe the man was armed, but say he was able to get some money from bank employees before making his escape. It was not disclosed exactly how much money was stolen.
