MONROE, La. (KNOE & MPD) - A Monroe teenager is behind bars, accused of aggravated arson, after allegedly setting off fireworks inside a Dollar General Store.
Monroe Police say Jamarian Hampton was seen walking into the store on Jackson Street with several other males.
Police say he began setting off fireworks inside the Dollar General, causing some merchandise to catch on fire.
As the suspects took off, customers stepped in, and were able to put out the fire. But, not without about $10,000 worth of damage to store merchandise.
Police say Hampton admitted to planning the crime. He is facing multiple charges including criminal conspiracy and aggravated arson.
