D.A.'s office mistake allows three accused murderers to be placed on house arrest

Ouachita Parish, La. (KNOE) - The 4th Judicial District Attorney's Office says a filing error allowed three accused killers to get out of jail.

The juveniles are accused in the murder of Hunter Adams from West Monroe. They're now out of jail and on house arrest.

District Attorney Steve Tew tells KNOE his office takes full responsibility for the mistake.

The paperwork at Tuesday's arraignment had the wrong name listed, and that mistake meant the judge had no choice but to release the kids.

Tew says house arrest was the harshest option.

Adam's mom says she found out they were released from Green Oaks Detention Center on social media and is upset the D.A.'s office didn't notify her.

In Louisiana, victims or their family have the right to be notified of certain decisions that may affect them. However, you have to be registered to be notified.
