Monroe Police: Man says he doesn't understand rights after high speed chase

MONROE, La. (KNOE) - On Wednesday, Monroe Police Department officers responded to an incident on the 1700 block of 3rd Street, which lead to the arrest of Cameron Jacobs.

Police reports say during the chase an unknown passenger jumped out of the car, then the driver sped up, running through four stop signs. Police caught up to the driver at Winnsboro Road, where 28-year-old Cameron Jacobs was identified and arrested.

Jacobs told police he wanted to remain silent because he didn't understand his rights. He also told police that he did not know what an attorney was.

Jacobs faces a string of charges including resisting an officer and driving with a suspended license. He is being held at Ouachita Correctional Center.
