MONROE, La (KNOE 8 News) - A Monroe man was arrested on rape charges overnight Sunday after he allegedly tried to have sex with a woman while she was sleeping.

Monroe police arrested Albert Haynes after a woman he knows told them he came inside her house without permission, while she was sleeping and tried to have sex with her.

She says she refused and then Haynes punched her in the face multiple times as she was trying to call 911.

Police say when they got there, Haynes tired to run away and jumped out of the back window.

He's charged with second degree rape, second degree robbery, second degree battery, and aggravated burglary, and resisting an officer.
