Hwy 3033 in Ouachita Parish to be closed due to rising water

OUACHITA PARISH, La. (KNOE) - According to Ouachita Parish Police Juror Jack Clampit, DOTD plans to close part of Hwy 3033 by 6 pm on March 13th, 2018, due to rising water.

That part of Hwy 3033 is also known as Cheniere Dam Rd. It is the part of Hwy 3033 that is between the parts known as Washington Street and Cheniere Lake Road.

It is also the main way around Cheniere Lake going to or from the West Monroe area.

In the meantime, travelers will have to detour father around the lake by taking Hwy 34.

It's unclear at this time how long Hwy 3033 will be closed.

Road to Rocky Branch Closed Too

Additionally, according to Union Parish E-911 Director Danny A. Smith, the bridge is located about 2 miles South of Rocky Branch on LA 143. (Also known as Whites Ferry Road.)

He says it will be closed at 6:00 PM Tuesday, March 13, 2018, and could be closed for an entire week afterward.
