New data from the American Cancer Society shows more millennials in their 20s and 30s are being diagnosed with the dangerous disease.

Rapid increase in both rectal and colon cancer are soaring high, although the percentage of millennials that are being diagnosed is still fairly small.

Dr. Ince, an oncologist and hematologist of the Rapides Cancer Center said experts still aren't aware of a leading cause, but believe it may be tied to the obesity epidemic.

"The risk factors for colon cancer in general have found to be diet related - related to obesity, lack of exercise of and there's still some questions that we don't have answers to and we're not sure," said Dr. Ince. “People of all ages need to adhere to a healthy lifestyle, that means walking every day for at least half an hour, eating your fruits and vegetables."
