NATCHEZ, Ms (KNOE) July marks the 50th anniversary of former Natchez Mayor Tony Byrne taking office. Byrne was sworn-in, in July of 1968 during the height of the civil rights movement. Byrne was honored by the current mayor and council with a key to the city.
Byrne served as mayor of Natchez for twenty years. KNOE caught up with Byrne at the Fourth of July flotilla in Concordia Parish on Saturday, July 7, 2018.
His advice for other politicians is to be better communicators. Byrne says he loves calling the Miss-Lou home. Born and raised in Mississippi. But he's owned a home at Lake St. John in Concordia Parish for many years.
