Essays earn students trip to governor's Easter celebration

MONROE, La. (Rep. Katrina R. Jackson) - Monroe area State Representative Katrina Jackson is announcing the winners of an essay contest in her district. A student from each elementary school will join her for a trip to the governor's mansion for the annual Easter Egg Celebration.

The essay contest asked students to write about what Easter means to them. The winners will travel with Jackson to Governor Edwards' and First Lady Edwards’ Annual Easter Egg Celebration on April 5, 2017.
The students will have lunch at the Capitol with a tour and return to Monroe.

Rep. Jackson stated, "This essay contest was a way to help young students understand the meaning of Easter while, of course, having the rare opportunity to meet the Governor and First Lady. I am every excited about this trip."
