TENSAS PARISH, La. (KNOE) - Louisiana State Police released new details involving the infant that was found dead Monday morning in Tensas Parish.

Senior Trooper Michael Reichardt said the child was found in a dumpster at Tensas Elementary School. He said they have interviewed the mother. Investigators are now awaiting results from an autopsy.

Reichardt says the mother's name will not be released until after the autopsy results are in. He says regardless of the outcome, she could face charges.

Investigators are expecting the autopsy results Thursday morning.


The body of an infant was found Monday morning in Tensas Parish.

Authorities say they got a call around 6 a.m. about a suspicious death in the parish, but would not go on record about where the body was found.

The incident is being investigated by Louisiana State Police and the Tensas Parish Sheriff's Office. While KNOE has been in contact with law enforcement throughout the day, no other details are being released at this time.
