MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Friday update: Traffic on Louisville Avenue in Monroe is back flowing. Though early morning commuters did find eastbound traffic narrowed to one lane right before and after the crossing where Thursday's derailment happened.

The train went off its tracks Thursday afternoon. And, since it was carrying a hazardous chemical, nearby businesses were evacuated as a precautionary measure. A portion of Louisville Avenue and other side streets near the tracks were also closed, forcing evening commuters to find alternate routes.

Officials tell us there were no leaks and the train cars only had minor damages. However, removing the cars and getting the tracks cleared took nearly 10-hours.

Previous report:

Thursday afternoon, a train derailed Hixson BMW on. Louisville Ave.

The train is reported to be carrying dangerous chemicals, precautionary evacuations underway.

More information will be provided as it becomes available.
