APD: Juvenile parents charged with death of infant

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - Two 16-year-olds have been charged with second degree murder for the death of their one-month-old infant daughter, according to the Alexandria Police Department.

Police responded to a report of an unresponsive infant in the 300 block of Cook Avenue around 2:30 a.m. Monday morning.

The child was taken to the hospital by ambulance where the infant succumbed to her injuries.

Crime scene personnel and investigators responded and started an investigation. Both minor parents were arrested and charged.

The Rapides Parish District Attorney's Office will now decide if the parents will be charged as adults.
