(AP) - State labor officials say the jobless report shows number of Louisianans with jobs has surpassed 2 million for first time ever. That number hit a new peak for the sixth month in a row in March, as the state's unemployment rate held steady from February at 4.5 percent. That's the eighth-lowest rate in the nation.
NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Ray Nagin's lawyer is seeking to reduce the amount of money the ex-New Orleans mayor might have to forfeit as a result of his conviction on federal corruption charges. Prosecutors last week said Nagin, who plans an appeal of his conviction, should be forced to turn over more than $501,000.
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Early voting for the May 3 general election begins tomorrow and continues through April 26. Secretary of State Tom Schedler says 35 parishes are holding elections. Citizens who want to vote early may do so in person at their parish Registrar of Voters Office or at other designated locations.
NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Tickets to the New Orleans Jazz festival will be available starting Monday at the Superdome's box office. Advanced single-day tickets cost $55. Beginning April 25, first weekend tickets are $70. Beginning May 1, second weekend tickets are $70.
