JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Jackson police have found the body of a 17-year-old girl they say was kidnapped and shot. Katelyn Beard's body was found Tuesday morning in a rural area north of Jackson, shortly after police found some of her clothes.

NETTLETON, Miss. (AP) - Furniture manufacturer HomeStretch Inc. is expanding its manufacturing and warehouse space in Nettleton and adding 60 new jobs. The announcement was made in a news release Tuesday. HomeStretch makes upholstered reclining furniture in Nettleton.

HOUSTON (AP) - Halliburton says it has agreed to pay $1.1 billion to settle a substantial portion of plaintiff claims arising from the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill. The settlement, which is subject to court approval, will be paid into a trust until appeals are resolved over the next two years.

VANCLEAVE, Miss. (AP) - Authorities say an improvised explosive device found under a vehicle in Vancleave has been disassembled by the Biloxi bomb squad. Bomb Squad Commander John Campbell says the Jackson County Sheriff's Office got a call around 3 p.m. Monday about a suspicious package. That's when the sheriff's office contacted the Biloxi bomb squad.
