GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - Two Gulf coast chambers of commerce have merged, culminating a year-long effort that combines the boards of both groups. The merger of the Orange Grove/Lyman Chamber with the Gulfport Chamber was praised Friday night by Gulfport Mayor Billy Hewes.
VICKSBURG, Miss. (AP) - The Vicksburg trial of a teenager accused of fatally shooting her stepmother ended in a mistrial. Said late Saturday night there were deadlocked in the case of 17-year-old Tyla Vega. A circuit judge dismissed jurors early yesterday.
CANTON, Miss. (AP) - Madison County Sheriff Randy Tucker says his office is investigating numerous leads in the search for a 2-year-old girl missing for more than a week. Tucker told The Associated Press yesterday there is no sign of Myra Lewis yet but his staff, working with the FBI and other agencies, is following leads as they develop. The search for Myra began March 1.
