JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - An additional 252 Mississippi Highway Patrol troopers on the road for the Memorial Day weekend. Public Safety Commissioner Albert Santa Cruz says the Highway Patrol will have all available resources out this weekend "to encourage motorists to obey the rules of the road."

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - A man claims in a lawsuit that he was seriously injured after he was attacked by yellow jackets, jumped off his riding lawnmower and was run over by the machine. Everardo Garfias says the cutoff switch should have disengaged the engine when he jumped off the Husqvarna lawnmower. The lawsuit was filed in Tate County Circuit Court.

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Nissan is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its Canton plant with a free-to-all festival tomorrow at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Jackson. It includes a circus, concert by Kool & the Gang and fireworks show. It's part of a series of events that included January's announcement that Nissan would start making its Murano crossover in Canton in 2014.

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The license of a Jackson school principal has been suspended for one year. The Mississippi Department of Education says she interfered in mandated state testing in 2011. Lisa Andrus-Johnson is principal at Watkins Elementary School in Jackson.
