JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Republican Gov. Phil Bryant has signed three bills to limit labor union activities in Mississippi that will take effect July 1st. The signings came Wednesday at a Capitol ceremony attended by a U.S. Chamber of Commerce representative. Bryant says he hopes the restrictions strengthen Mississippi's reputation as a state where unions have little influence.

GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - Regional bank Hancock Holding Co. says it has met efficiency targets nearly a year early, as profits bounced back on lower expenses. Hancock, which operates Hancock Bank in Mississippi, Alabama and Florida, and Whitney Bank in Louisiana and Texas, posted quarterly profit Wednesday of $49.1 million, or 58 cents per share.

BILOXI, Miss. (AP) - The historic beachfront White House Hotel in Biloxi is scheduled to reopen in July after sitting vacant and dilaptidated on the beach front for nearly a quarter century. Barrington Development LLC of Ridgeland bought the property in 2013 from White House Properties, which has been held by the Love family for decades.

CORINTH, Miss. (AP) - The city of Corinth has sold the old West Corinth Elementary School property to the Siege and Battle of Corinth Commission for $1,499. The commission was the only bidder.
