MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The West Monroe Police Department has its sixth Accreditation award.

Chief Christopher Elg announced that the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies made the award today.

In order to receive the award the West Monroe Police Department had to meet the requirements of the highly regarded and broadly recognized body of Law Enforcement standards.

Commissioner James Robey, (Senator, 13th District of Maryland) advised that the group had never observed such an outpouring of positive comments from the public as the assessor's report reflected after the public hearing that took place in West Monroe this past December.

The award represents the agency's ongoing acceptance of the obligation to continue the quest for professional excellence by maintaining the 464 accreditation standards for Law Enforcement Agencies.

The award was accepted by Chief Christopher Elg, Major James Keys (Accreditation Manager), Officer Randy Davis, and Corporal C. J. Beck.
