BASTROP (KNOE 8 News) - A recall petition against a Northeast Louisiana mayor is slated to start soon.
Bastrop Mayor Betty Alford-Olive has been in office less than a year, but this morning, the Secretary of State's office received paperwork requesting a recall petition. KNOE 8's Cynthia MKilledge sat down with Alford-Olive in August just a month after she was elected - she said her top priority was listening to the people of Bastrop. Now those same people will have the chance to get her out of office.
According to the Morehouse registrar of voters office, residents will have 180 days to collect enough signatures to force a recall election. That's at least 26-hundred signatures from registered voters in Bastrop.
