NATCHEZ, Miss. (AP) - State officials say Ferriday, La., will join a handful of cities outside the Magnolia State to receive a Mississippi Blues Trail marker.
Officials tell the Natchez Democrat that a marker is planned for Ferriday sometime in the spring. Ferriday is located across the Mississippi River from Natchez.
Mississippi blues marker have been placed in Chicago, Memphis, New Orleans and London.
The marker will honor the site of Haney's Big House, a nightclub run by the late Will Haney during the 1940s and 1950s.
The nightclub, which was part of what was known as the "chitlin circuit," played host to the legends of blues music - among them were Fats Domino, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong and B.B. King.
