Veterans and their spouses were treated to a special breakfast this morning in Monroe.

The Ouachita Council on aging invited veterans from the area to come have a free meal. Organizers planned on about 50 couples coming, and were surprised when more than 100 veterans showed up with their spouses.

Veterans day celebrations are planned throughout the day. Monroe Baptist Church is honoring veterans in their sanctuary at six Wednesday.

All veterans or current service men and women get in the Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo for free today.
