Monroe City Council votes to Fight the Blight

Tuesday night, the Monroe City Council voted to officially Fight the Blight, giving the council power to help clean up the city.

Richland Parish School Bus Drivers say they want a salary increase by next February or they'll stop driving.

A local West Monroe artist's mural that was painted over the summer in Antique Alley has been covered up. Despite its popularity with the public, the West Monroe Historic Preservation Commission deemed the piece "not historic in nature", and told the building owner to cover it up.

The Monroe SWAT team is getting attention on Facebook after a standoff Sunday. Police say Officer Chris Turner recognized Brenda Heard, the sister of Johnny Heard, was upset so he went over to say a prayer and offer comfort.
